The George Inn
Charles Dickens, is mentioned the Geroge Inn in one of his novel. This is was around 1855, so you know what we mean when we say it is an historical place! Originally a traditional café, today this place is also known for its pub and great food choice.
Its establishment dates back to 1676 and real Londoners call it “The George and the Dragon”, like the well-known Christian legend.
The Gerge Inn café is the oldest one in London, and back in time was a popular resting place for travellers transiting through the city. If you want to visit this amazing place, you can find it not far from the London Bridge: you can’t miss it!
Ye Olde Mitre
This café’s history goes really bacl in time. It was built in 1546!
Since 1800 it became a popular place to have coffee, and it’s considered to be a landmark for history-lover people in London.
Why you ask? Well the Ye Olde Mitre is said to host a cherry tree which owns one unique characteristic. In fact, Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Christopher Hatton have supposedly danced together around it. In modern times, it served as a set for the movie “Snatch” by Guy Ritchie (2000).
White Hart Bar&Dining
Once you get to Covent Garden you cannot miss the chance to stop at the White Hart! In fact, this is the first place in London to have had the licence to operate as a pub in 1216! Of course historians fight over this information, but we like to believe it’s true.
