If you love original jewellery and DIY, you’re in the right place! Find out how to create amazing necklaces out of used coffee capsules!
Sometimes we just want a new accessory to freshen up our style but it’s often difficult to find what we are looking for in stores or online. DIY comes in handy here! Have you ever thought about creating your own jewellery by using discarded coffee capsules? Today we are going to show you how to craft a beautiful necklace!
This is not only a way to spend a nice afternoon on a manual project, but it’s also a sustainable activity. Turning your used coffee capsules into necklaces in fact, will prevent those capsules to end up in the trash bin.
What are we waiting for? Let’s see how to proceed!
What you’ll need:
- Some cotton yarn
- A hammer
- A needle (preferably a thick one)
- A metal clasps
- About 10 used coffee capsules
Method:
Follow the instructions below step by step: it’s easy!
- Make the capsules ready to be used: remove the coffee that is left in the capsule and wash it with water. You can either pick capsules of the same colour or mix and match: it’s up to you! We think that our yellow “Intense” capsules look particularly great on this kind of project!
- Now you need to flatten the capsules by using the hammer. Chose an appropriate surface for that!
- Take every capsule and make two little holes by using the needle, one on each side of the capsule, and then thread them together with the cotton yarn. Knot on the yarn.
- To finish up your necklace you just need to apply the metal clasp at the two ends of the necklace!
You can easily find all you need in craft stores, but if you cannot find some of the elements, you can always find an easy alternative. For example, if you cannot find a meta clasp, you can always use safety pins!
If you prefer, you can also use metal thread instead of the cotton yarn if it suits your style better. Metal thread looks great on jewellery, but it is a little harder to work with.
